It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Ms. Solange Belluz as an 'executive-in-residence' at Glendon. As such, she will provide invaluable assistance to our ongoing strategy to make Glendon, and York University, the ‘hub’ for Francophone and bilingual university study in Southern Ontario.
Ms. Belluz comes to Glendon after assuming for more than twenty years, leadership roles in the Ontario government’s support of French-language education. She is currently Manager of the French-language continued learning unit in the French-Language Education Policy & Programs Branch of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities of the Ontario government. Previously, she held positions in the Ministry of Education & Training, as well as in the Ministry of Health & Long-term Care.
A Glendon alumna, Ms. Belluz holds an M.A. from our School of Translation. She also holds an M.B.A. from the Schulich School of Business and an M.Sc. in Management from the École Supérieure de Commerce de Lyon (France).
As an ‘executive-in-residence’, Ms. Belluz will assist Glendon in developing a Politique d’aménagement linguistique, as well as supporting York University’s application for a Partial Designation under Ontario’s French Language Services Act. She will also spearhead efforts to recruit Francophone international students and to develop additional partnerships with Francophone universities. Finally, Ms. Belluz will work to strengthen further Glendon’s relationship with the Francophone community of Southern Ontario. Her appointment will be for one year with possibility of renewal for a second year. She will start her appointment on May 1, 2014.
Given Solange Belluz’ wealth of experience, we are most fortunate to have her join us. Her insight and leadership will help to ensure that Glendon achieves its full potential in providing French-language university education for Southern Ontario’s Francophone and Francophiles. Please join me in welcoming Solange to Glendon.
