World Water Day

Date: Friday, March 22nd 2013
Time: 10:00 am – 9:00 pm
Location: Glendon Cafeteria (Fair Trade Fair)/YH 204 (Conference/Movie)
In celebration of World Water Day, Glendon Roots and Shoots is hosting a fun-filled day of “eco” activities on Friday March 22nd. The event will kick off with a Fair Trade/Club’s Fair held in the cafeteria. Vendors will be selling eco-friendly products at a special price – these items will be organic, fair-trade and/or not-tested-on-animals, the purchase of which contributes to a healthier, greener lifestyle. Next, the conference portion of the event will be featuring guest lectures by York professors and environmental activist groups speaking to the Glendon community about environmental awareness and how to live a greener lifestyle. We will conclude the event with a screening of the film “Project Nim” in cooperation with the Jane Goodall Institute. Project Nim presents the lengths to which researchers and scientists will go for science, but at the cost of many chimpanzees’ well-being. Admission to the film will be $2. Free food and drinks will be offered throughout the day, generously provided by Glendon’s Lunik Co-op Café, with an emphasis on items that are fresh, healthy, organic and/or fair trade. We hope you’ll join us for this spectacular (and free!) event!
